Restoration Ministries-Restoration Village is a safe haven for women in children in crisis. Restoration Village has the vision of “Restoring Hope for the Next Generation”. They give women and children who have suffered a crisis or trauma the ability to “rebuild”, “renew”, “repair”, and “restore” their lives not to what they were, but to the potential that exists for every woman and child who walks through the doors at Restoration Village. The organization works to share hope and encourage women to find their strength. Restoration Village is “Inspiring Us” just as it inspires women throughout our community who find themselves in need of a little hope…just like Shelby.
“Shelby* was one of the women whom Restoration Village had the privilege of welcoming and nurturing last year. She came to us as a young, single, pregnant mother of two. Her family’s dysfunction caused her to grow up enduring neglect, foster care, familial drug and alcohol abuse, and other forms of maltreatment. As a single parent, she was doing her best to make a life for her children, when she was violently violated, producing a crisis pregnancy. The combination of Shelby’s history of abuse and the recent traumatic experience understandably caused much distress, discomfort, and instability for her and her young children. Therefore, it was crucial for her to have a safe, stable place to stay while she carried the baby, healed from the past, and processed her future steps. During her stay with us, she was able to walk through the journey of a crisis pregnancy with a supportive, positive community and without as much stress from financial demands for housing and food.
She made the beautiful, brave decision to give her baby up for adoption. She was also able to participate in counseling and advocacy services, giving her opportunities to process and heal from her wounds as well as look into the future with hope. She gained knowledge and skills from parenting and relationship classes. She was able to connect with several community organizations that helped her with her various needs.
She has great potential and drive, which led her to enroll in college and quickly move on to a life of self-sufficiency and positive community impact. Her story is not over, but we were grateful to have a part in giving her a place of respite from the chaos and a springboard for a hopeful and successful future.”
