Tee Up for Kids in Poverty on May 16th

The 1st Annual Charity Fundraiser Golf Tournament will take place at the Springdale Country Club on Monday, May 16th. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit United Way of Northwest Arkansas and the work being done to provide a pathway out of poverty for kids in Northwest Arkansas. Nearly a quarter of children in Northwest Arkansas under the age of 18 live in poverty – that’s 26,000 children. The implications of one in four children growing up in poverty in our community are significant and require our collective attention. Register your teams to participate in the 4 man scramble and “tee up for kids in poverty”. Email info@unitedwaynwa.org for more information.

Our wORK

United Way of Northwest Arkansas focuses on what we consider the three building blocks of a good life – Education, Income and Health. Education is essential to obtaining and keeping a job with a livable wage and health benefits. An income sufficient to pay for daily necessities and save for the future provides families with financial stability and a sense of hope. Access to quality health care keeps children on track in school and adults productive at work. Remove any of these building blocks and the other two are certain to topple.

We also recognize the importance of “Safety Net” type of programs that serve as critical avenues through which families meet urgent and essential needs.

EDUCATION

Anyone who has ever worked to improve education understands that it is a cradle-to-career responsibility. Education starts at birth, and children learn wherever they are.

INCOME

The recession has created or exacerbated high levels of un- and under-employment and has highlighted the mismatch between labor force skills and available jobs.

HEALTH

Good health is fundamental to people’s capacity to enjoy their lives, to provide for their families, to realize their dreams and to contribute to society.

SAFETY-NET

United Way of Northwest Arkansas works to provide Safety Net services for individuals and families so they may face unexpected challenges, experience a life of independence, and stay active members of our community.
