Can you believe how fast this year has flown by? It is almost 2013! And at United Way of Northwest Arkansas it kind of already is. On Tuesday, we kicked off our 2013 campaign with three great events all sponsored by Ernst & Young!
The kickoff extravaganza started bright and early at Mellow Mushroom in Rogers. There was delicious breakfast pizza, hot coffee, and great fellowship!
Our 2013 Campaign Chair, Norm Prestage, started off the event speaking about the need in our area. Many people don’t think about our area being anything but wealthy seeing as we have two Fortune 500 companies’ headquarters here, but unfortunately that is just not the case.
Norm then introduced Marilyn Black. Marilyn told the story of her bother and how Open Avenues, a United Way partner agency, has impacted their lives.
After Marilyn finished speaking, Norm returned to the mic and announced the United Way of Northwest Arkansas 2013 campaign goal of $3.9 million dollars! Norm said, “it’s an aggressive goal that is going to require each and every one of us to do our part.”
For the noon kickoff we ventured out to Siloam Springs to visit the new restaurant, 28 Springs. This kickoff was emceed by KNWA news anchor, Jonathan Martinez!
After Norm and Jonathan pumped the crowd up for this year’s campaign, Jose Barbosa spoke about the United Way of Northwest Arkansas partner agency, Dogwood Literacy Council.
Finally, we ended the day at Legacy Blues in Fayetteville with a kickoff emceed by Fox News Edge anchor, Brad Reed. Our guest speaker at this kickoff was Gary Sauter, who spoke about United Way of Northwest Arkansas partner agency Northwest Arkansas Free Health Clinic.
We know our staff had a great time at the kickoffs, and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves as well! Let’s blow past that 2013 goal of $3.9 million by joining forces and LIVING UNITED!
